ACADEMIC TOOLBOX NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2010

 

I heard the bell go off in the teacher’s heads yesterday -------- it is August, time to think SCHOOL!  What a short summer we are having.  We had a drain plug on the roof and the thunderstorm we had last week left me between 4 and 5 inches of water pooled over the toy area of the store.  Fortunately only a little breached a seam in the air conditioner and dripped onto the ceiling.  Sharon just finished VBS at our church and she was one tired puppy having to put in some 12 hour days before getting to rest her bones.  All worth while though watching her get the hugs from the kids.  Had visits from all 4 grandkids in July so now we are both ready to get the teachers and home schoolers ready for the new year.

 

HELP HAS ARRIVED

Most of you have met Penny our permanent employee. We now have Tammy helping us through the month of August.  She owns a preschool in Chelan and has been a great customer since our beginnings.  Come on in and pick her brain for current early childhood ideas.

 

SPECIALS     

Trend/Argus posters are having their traditional “buy two get one free sale” for the entire month.  These are the “motivational” posters that are on the spinner in the front corner.

 

Pencils are all going back to the price we had 10 years ago for the month of August.  All of the regular 35 cent pencils will be 25 cents each if you purchase 25 or more.

 

Staring Saturday August 7^th we will have sign ups for a drawing to win some gift certificates.  Four of them, in fact, one for $100, one for $75, one for $50, and one $25.

Drawing will be August 31^st after closing.

 

DID YOU KNOW?

“Stewardesses’ is the longest word typed with only the left hand and “lollipop” with your right hand.  Of course, if you are speaking with a teenager substitute type with text and thumb for hand.  Then ask what the shorttext (I just invented a word) would be that they would really use.

 

THIS MONTHS FREQUENT SHOPPER CARD DRAWING WINNER

The winner in our monthly frequent drawing winner is Ami VanderSluis.  She wins $25 to spend here at the store.  Thanks for being a loyal client.

 

NEW ITEMS

Just a quick review of new items this last month.  Two new games from the Blue Orange people,   Bubber a non-drying (because it is not wet) replacement for the various doughs.  It has a texture like marshmallows and can be used in all the dough molds etc.  Sort and Snap toy from Melissa and Doug that helps with color sorting, patterning, and dexterity.  New Webkinz are the Red Squirrel, Pretty Panda, Border Collie, and Misty Puppy.  Also some new Signitures also including the Western Lowland Gorilla, Zebra, and Cow.  Some new books for back to school for the kids and also teachers books that are too many to mention but do include some with CD’s for the Smartboard .

Pumpinator now back is stock for your water balloon fighting fun!
