Academic Toolbox July Newsletter

Dwight reminded me that it was time to write the July newsletter and my first thought was, didn't we just write the June Newsletter.  My oh my, where does the time go??  As time Marches on, we are about to celebrate the freedom of our country and so here's wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July.  We will be closed Saturday for the fourth. We will be traveling up to Bellingham to spend the weekend with Grandchildren Maggie & Marley.  Yes, we were just up there over Memorial Day weekend, and two weekends ago we were down in Vancouver visiting Kian & Holly.  And just last weekend, we had a surprise visit from Kian, Holly, Mom, Dad & Annie (dog).  Actually their visit wasn't a complete surprise, Tammy had called us Friday afternoon around 4 and informed us that Kyle was loading up the car and that they would be coming to Wenatchee.  Her comment was, "now mom, don't go into any trouble getting ready for our visit".  My reply,  “sure Tammy, I won't do a thing to get ready for your visit”.  HA!  How can a Grandma not get ready for a visit from her grandchildren?  A quick trip to the grocery store to buy their favorite cereal & drinks, make sure clean sheets on the guest bed and a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies.  Sure no trouble at all.  Kids pulled in at 11pm, Holly had been asleep and when Daddy carried her in I said; "welcome to Grandma's hotel!”  Holly replied back with "this is no hotel, there is NO pool” and Kian replied with, "and there is NO elevator!!"

Dwight is on the move again.  Yes, he is re-arranging; getting merchandise ready for the back to school rush. We are in the process of receiving new bulletin board sets, trim, stickers, accents, and a variety of book resources.

OUTSIDE TOYS

Are your children taking time to play outside?  We have a several different outside toys and other activities.  How about a big bubble wand in the shape of a butterfly or a set of four sacks for the famous sack races, Chinese jump ropes, regular jump ropes, hoppity hop balls,  froggy ring toss, stunt foam gliders, or bag with 4 outdoor games for all kinds of fun.  The 4 game assortment comes with a couple of rackets that sound like music notes when striking the shuttlecock.  The games come in a reusable beach bag.

DRAWING WINNER

This month our winner is Heather Macneil.  She wins the $25 to spend in the store.  For those of you that are new to the newsletter, the drawing is from redeemed frequent shopper cards.  We like to reward our customers.

THANK YOU

Thanks to those of you that came in to help us celebrate our first 10 years.  We put together a small display of pictures showing the transformation from the Cascade Veterinary to today.  We will leave that up for a short while.  The majority of the comments when people look at the pictures are not about us but about how much they like Dr. Berdan.  We have to agree and thank both Don and Kay for their part in helping us get started.

NEWS!

We have had many requests from teachers in the communities north of Chelan to be able to purchase online.

In a couple of weeks our school catalog will be reproduced and available on our website.  It will be only the school materials catalog to start but hopefully will later add homeschool and selected toys.

Our teacher desk calendars are in.  Of course they are costing us more this year (especially shipping) but we are still offering them free to you with purchase.  Just another way of saying thanks to our great customers.

Trend is again allowing us to offer the Argus motivational posters at a buy 2 get one free pricing.  The posters are really great for the higher elementary through high school level or even an office setting.  They are $3.49 each and some are available in both English and Spanish.  Sale will run the entire month of July.

NEW PRODUCT

Rock N Learn music and videos to help learn important facts from mathematics to social studies through music are now in stock.

Lots of new “mini-bulletin board” sets are in with many new titles to arrive next week.  Some titles in stock are ‘go green at school’, ‘place value’, ‘measurement’, ‘food pyramid’, and ‘discover bugs’.  The popularity of the mini sets is increasing because it allows those with room to have multiple subjects displayed at once and also allows those with little room to still have a nice informative display.   Most retail at $4.99 to $6.99 where the large sets are priced from $8.99 to $12.99 so there is a cost savings.
