Yes, indeed it is May but weather wise; I am not so sure. What is up with this weather? Spring has to land eventually, I think? The flag hanging outside sure hit it on the nail, with the rabbit asking. ”Is it Spring yet?
Apple Blossom festival has come and gone Teacher Appreciation was Tuesday with Mother’s Day in just a few days. So here’s wishing all Mothers a very Happy Mothers Day, Blessings to you all!! And a huge THANK YOU to all teachers & staff for the tremendous job that you do. We appreciate you! Good luck to students & the teachers on the new MSP tests.
Our highlight is that Cody the young fellow who has been living with us has been accepted to Western Washington U. He will graduate from Wenatchee Valley College next month with his AA degree and will continue his education in Computer Science. Dwight and I will be faced with the “empty nest” syndrome once again.
Dwight has a small display set up with travel ideas; we often hear “what do you have for travel”? We have Brain Quest for the car, travel version of Abalone, the old fashion window bingo, & a new game Tylz, L shaped magnetic tiles and board, the pieces can fit together in countless ways. The object is to place your piece to have the most squares of one color.

We have several other games and manipulatives that can be used for travel.
Also good for travel are the Summer Bridge Books. They are intended to keep the mind fresh over the long break. They review the grade the student is leaving and give an introduction to the next grade level so that they will not skip a beat next school year. A REMINDER to the PTOs and PTAs to let us know if you have any questions and to get your books soon enough before school is out to make your delivery easy.

It’s not what you know, it’s what you use that makes a difference.
Some BTS decorations and book resources have come in. CTP has come out with several new mini bulletin board sets. For the lower grades (K-2) we have “Story Elements”, “Letters & Sounds”, & “Word Families”. For the older grades (3-5) there are “Spice Up Your Writing”, “Word Parts”, & “Proofreading Marks”. We have others for Math, Science & Social Studies, as well.
New book resources for early childhood education are Vocabulary building games & activities (ages 4-8), Best Sight Word Book Ever! (K – 3rd), this book has 170 high-frequency words, which will help increase fluency & comprehension skills.

Our drawing winner this month is Kelli Jansen of Cashmere. She gets $25 to spend in the store. Congratulations Kelli!
