ACADEMIC TOOLBOX NEWS – JANUARY 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We hope your new year is starting out on a positive note as teachers and students return to school and the snow continues to fall.  Reflecting on 2008, it was a good year for our store, but brought with it a lot of changes and uncertainty in some areas.  Despite the “bad” news there is a lot to be thankful for and some hope for the future.  Perhaps this will be the year that our government does some self-inspection and returns to thinking about all of us first rather than special interest groups.  I think both education needs and health care fall into the category of general needs that will hopefully be priorities with the state and federal administrations.  On a personal note, my son in law is part of the Vancouver Fire Department that has voted to give up their 4% cost of living raise this year.  We are proud of him and saddened by the government allowing their selves to be in this financial position.

We want to THANK YOU for your support this past year!  The store has set another sales record as we approach our TENTH ANNIVERSARY.  It will actually be in June that the store will have been open 10 years.  We want to celebrate by THANKING YOU!  We are trying to think of ways to celebrate this with you and are open to any ideas and suggestions.

Going to leave it short this month.  Have to go fill out all those tax forms and help preview all the new catalogs that are starting to arrive.  Reminds me, TEACHERS, our new store catalog is on the way from the east so should be here in 7 to 10 days.  We will be asking that any of you that are in town to take a couple to your school as shipping is over $3 a catalog now.  We appreciate it.
